Did you know that sock puppets were originally created to perform secret puppet shows during the puritan era in England and France? Since then they have become ubiquitous and well known as a cheap and easy way to make a puppet. They are also undeniably cute.
In this all ages workshop we will use with all kinds of different materials to create our sock puppets. This includes: googly eyes, yarn, felt, foam, beads, brads, cardboard, markers, and of course, socks. We will put them altogether using hot glue and some simple sewing.
Each participant receives one pair of white tube socks (that's two socks!) and use of all available materials. Participants are also encouraged to bring one or two of their favorite socks as well. Maybe you have a lone sock without a partner? This sock would be perfect for turning into a sock puppet!
